Each new version adds useful features, while breaking others. Downloading doesn't work at all. Click contacts on the help page, perhaps to report a bug, and you get nothing. Don't you do any regression testing?

March 22 update. Just forced to get the "new" update. Did not think app could get worse, but it did. Globe management do you have no shame? 29 June 19 did not download today's paper. Called help desk, and she could not help. she called IT desk, AND they would not answer. I have rebooted, cleared cache, uninstalled, reinstalling still yesterday's paper. ONLY app I have problems with. this app does not work with android OS. Apple OS only.

The just released version in March 2022 is highly unstable. Repeatedly crashes doing basic functions, like turning pages. Entire sections of newspaper are missing. For example, the Sunday paper for 3-27-22 is missing the Comics section. When it's not crashing, only 70% of a page is displayed. User can resize, but you have to do it over and over again for every single page. That's highly annoying and bad user experience. It should really be a user specified setting. Negative experience overall

How can one get back to Page 1 without having to reinvent the wheel, or tap page back 20 times?

Sadly the updates caused more harm than good. Original simple program to download paper for reading The Globe without WiFi just does not work. Paper loads slowly , if at all now. The entire paper rarely completes loading which I've discovered when trying to read. The old app wasn't the best, but 90% of the time I had a paper to read while away from internet. I removed & reloaded twice so far.

The update is terrible. The bottom and top bars take up too much room on my tablet when I open individual articles. See reader Bernie Coyne's review for more details.

My advice: backup your version 5.3 somewhere. Woke up this morning to version 5.5. Immediately found it does not respect the selection of "fit vertically" on my Samsung S7 tablet, so each page has to be manually fit. No bueno. I went back to version 5.3 - which works perfectly on every device we own - and turned off autoupdate. [old review ] Globe subscriber since '77, but the company may have finally reached the limit of my ability to tolerate incompetence. Running on a VZ GS4 with 5.0.1, fwiw, this ereader version rewards patience with a crash-fest. And for the short time it actually loads pages, it does so with all the speed of a TRS-80 (<=Google it) Yup, I may be done...

This Boston Globe app provides a visual representation of the actual newspaper. Articles are therefore prioritized and organized based on how they're shown in the paper, not based on your past interests or how popular they are. If you like having your editorials grouped at the end of the A section, or being able to flip to the sports section and read about the Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Patriots all in one place, this is the app for you. If you want a customized feed, use the other Globe app!

Will not load daily epaper on Chromebook. It will load daily ePaper through the other Boston Globe app (the one with the black icon).
